Traineeships
A traineeship is a training agreement between a trainee and their respective employer who agrees to train the trainee in a specific industry, and the trainee agrees to work and learn. This is a great way to upskill while learning and Traineeships are available for people of all ages. Traineeships usually last between nine to 48 months, depending on the vocation and certificate level undertaken.
When an employer takes on a trainee, the trainee will work either full-time or part-time, while receiving formal training from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), like AIM. As well as formal training, trainees will also benefit from on-the-job training and experience they gain in the workplace.
Eligibility
- 18 years older or over
- an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Australian humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
- either full-time or part-time employment status
- Additional entry requirements, eligibility, and approvals are required prior to commencing the program

For trainees to enrol with an RTO and for employers to receive a potential financial incentive, trainees need to be signed into a Commonwealth Government Training Contract.
