For 80 years, AIM has been at the forefront of developing Australian professionals into effective managers and outstanding leaders. We’ve gained a lot of experience over this time, such as the value of soft skills, methods to improve and utilise emotional intelligence, and how impactful leadership translates into an engaged workforce.

Good leadership is the ability to set direction, earn trust and bring people with you. It includes clear communication, emotional intelligence, accountability, and ethical decision-making. Strong leaders create safe, high-performing cultures where people understand expectations, feel valued and stay focused on outcomes.
Management focuses on planning, organising and maintaining processes so work gets done efficiently. Leadership focuses on vision, influence and motivating people to achieve shared goals. In practice, great leaders often manage well, and great managers lead well, but the core emphasis is different.
Start with structured learning that targets both people leadership and strategy. AIM’s online leadership courses and in-person programs build capability in communication, decision-making, stakeholder management, and strategic planning.
