February Edition of Leading Edge with Ann Messenger
Welcome back to 2017!
I do hope you all had a very happy and restful Christmas and New Year holiday period. I shared a lovely Christmas and New Year with family and friends and I have to say, I'm feeling particularly energised and ready to tackle what promises to be a very exciting year ahead for AIM.
It's going to be a very BIG year! Stay tuned for some important developments which I can assure you will make the value proposition for AIM Membership even more compelling. I'm not going to reveal everything we have in store for Members right now but here are a few things to look forward to.
Mid-way through the year, we will launch our first book, "Leadership Matters: 7 Skills of Very Successful Leaders." The book includes a number of interviews with high profile and very influential international leaders where they discuss their understanding of what makes a good leader. They provide some fascinating insights and the seven key skills identified in the book provide the basis of our 2017 AIM Conference.
Following the success of the 2016 Conference in Brisbane, we are bringing the Leadership Matters Conference to Melbourne on 24 March. Don't miss this brilliant opportunity to hear from exemplary leaders who come from a wide range of industries as they discuss what has made them and their organisations successful.
This year, AIM's very popular Leadership Outlook Series will focus on establishing and maintaining high performing teams. Leading executive coach, Phil Crenigan from Executive Turning Point, will be bringing super practical and highly interactive workshops to 16 locations around Australia. To find your local event visit the AIM Events calendar.
The beginning of a new year is a great time to reassess your team’s, as well as your own, professional development goals. I invite you to use AIM and our plethora of resources to workshop with your team, identify skills you could improve and meet with like-minded professionals from around the country and indeed, the world.
A good place to start is Leadership Direct, AIM’s professional development platform available only to Members which includes PD Direct. PD Direct consists of a series of professional development journeys designed for middle and senior management. It provides 1-2 hours of structured content and interactive resources on core management and leadership skills. Log into the Member portal today to access Leadership Direct.
Finally, you would likely have seen AIM is partnering with the Growth Faculty to bring international leadership expert, Simon Sinek, to Australia. This author, public speaker and leadership consultant will be presenting the ‘Start With Why’ Leadership Forum to Sydney on 7 March. AIM is delighted to offer a discounted ticket price to our Members – but be sure to be quick, as tickets are selling fast!
2017 is shaping up to be a great year for AIM. Thank you, AIM Members, for being part of it! I’m looking forward to sharing the coming year with you as we see AIM continue to establish itself as the peak body for managers and leaders in Australia.
In conclusion, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones health, happiness and all the very best for 2017.
