Acclaim for NSW & ACT Excellence Award winners

The four winners were rewarded for their managerial prowess when they were named the region’s most successful managers on Friday 17 October.

Airservices Australia Chief of Staff Sarah Klein AIMM, The Shepherd Centre’s Aleisha Davis AIMM, Point Project Management Founder Michael Snare AIMM and Baxter Healthcare’s Steve Flynn AIMM will now progress to the inaugural national category.

The AIM Excellence Awards are the most esteemed management awards in the nation and for the first time ever the New South Wales and ACT winners have direct sight of national recognition.

Airservices Australia Chief of Staff, Sarah Klein, was delighted to receive the award for Young Manager of the Year from such an accomplished pool of candidates and thanked AIM for the opportunities they were providing for emerging managers.

The Not for Profit Manager of the Year category was taken out by The Shepherd Centre’s Director of Clinical Programs, Aleisha Davis, who oversees a family-centered education program to teach children born deaf or hearing impaired how to listen and develop spoken language.

“On behalf of health and disability field it is fantastic that leadership is recognised as part of the clinical world and it is a great honour to receive this award,” Ms Davis said.

Michael Snare was proclaimed Owner Manger of the Year for his work as the Founder and Director of Point Project Management and he credited his success to creating a great place to work which had enabled him to attract some of Australia’s top talent.

The Manager of the Year award was presented to Baxter Healthcare’s Healthcare Solutions Director, Steven Flynn, who said he was still trying to determine who the person was that had nominated him for the award.

“Although these are individual awards, leadership is not an individual pursuit and I’d like to thank the team that I have who do such a wonderful job,” Mr Flynn said.

“It is important to recognise leadership and it can be difficult for leaders to get the recognition they deserve so I’d like to thank AIM for providing this opportunity.”

AIM Group Chief Executive Officer Daniel Musson FAIM said the calibre of winners from New South Wales and ACT was in keeping with the Awards’ high standards.

“These Awards have been recognising managerial excellence in Northern Territory and Queensland for more than 20 years and for the first time this year will be recognising managers from all over Australia,” Mr Musson said.

“The honour roll of previous winners is littered with the names of some of the most successful business leaders in Australia and I’m excited about uncovering the next generation of star managers again this year.”
